When Nisha first reached out to me online looking for a family photographer, I knew right away that we were going to create something beautifully honest. Originally from Colorado, Nisha & Avneil, along with their two kids and dog, are still planting their roots here in Ohio, creating a sanctuary of a home that reflects exactly who they are in this season of life.

The Reality of a Busy Family

Both Nisha and Avneil work in the medical field, which means their schedules are demanding, fast-paced, and incredibly precious. In a world where free time is a luxury, it can be so easy to let the days blur together. But from the moment I walked through their front door, one thing was clear: this is a family that protects and values their time together.

To honor that intentionality, we skipped the rigid poses and simply let the afternoon unfold naturally. We documented their 5-year-old daughter and 9-month-old baby boy in their favorite spaces- their rooms, with their sweet pup Lukey keeping watch over the fun. We embraced the beautiful reality of a modern, busy family—including the quick work calls that inevitably pop up when you’re balancing a dedicated career with parenthood.

Legos, Swings, and High Style

What I love is that they haven’t sacrificed style for family life; instead, they’ve beautifully figured out how to incorporate both, turning their stunning home into a haven for creativity and a little bit of whimsy. We captured life happening right around the dining room table where their current Lego project was underway, and later ventured upstairs to the media room—a space featuring an awesome indoor swing and custom displays for their completed Lego masterpieces.

Capturing the Messy Magic

Watching them interact reminded me why I love documentary photography. Years from now, the kids will remember more than what they looked like—they’ll remember how they played, how they moved together, and the deep connections they built.

The real magic lives in these unfiltered spaces. It’s in leaving the toys scattered on the floor and capturing the raw, unposed moments of a family growing closer. These simple details will transport them back to the warmth of a home built on love, connection, and the wonderful mess of real life.
