Winter in Ohio is not for the faint of heart. It’s cold, gray and we’re all a little depressed. Most of us want to stay inside wrapped in blankets and warm puppies but thank God for bold and bright souls like Briaja, a high school senior who shines no matter what the season, reminding us that beauty exists in more than the landscape. If we just look for it, we’ll find it’s only a smile away…

One word to describe me is ambitious.

After graduation I plan on getting my nursing license.

I’ve learned how the body works from my physiology classes.

In my free time I like to hang out with my friends and talk on the phone.

I listen to hip-hop and pop.

I look up to my older brother because he is a go getter and he makes things happen.

He’s my inspiration.

In ten years I see myself working in a hospital with my own house and my own car…
