A Daughter’s Tribute
Supporting local veterans is a great cause, which is why I headed over to the Sinclair College Centerville campus last Saturday for the Invite a Vet Annual Car Show. The foundation was started by Marian Montgomery back in 2014 in honor of her late father (she was actually recognized as one of WDTN’s Remarkable Women of Dayton for her work), and the event is a simple way to get the community out to support area service members.
Rain, Shine, and Rare Rides
A sudden downpour tried to throw a curveball right at the start, but the weather didn’t stall the day. A little morning rain only made all that chrome shine a bit brighter! Once the sun finally peeked through, I spent a fast-paced hour walking the lot with my camera. There was a solid mix of everything from classic muscle cars and pristine vintage rides—including a crowd-favorite Batmobile—to local vendors and food trucks.
Supporting Those Who Served
At its core, the day was all about recognition and gratitude. The cars were cool to shoot, but as usual, it’s the people I’ll actually remember. Seeing the veterans, the volunteers, and the vendors all coming together for one single purpose is what really made the morning worth the trip.
