Ben is our neighbor and the oldest Ekola. His mom, Heather, makes THE best caramel apples I’ve ever had! Ben is a senior this year. He used to take guitar lessons from Josh and now look at him- if he’s not already a rock star, he’s definitely on his way to becoming one! I’m sure...
I’ve known Parker since he was a boy. He’s the oldest of four and has that unique, firstborn mix of humility, silliness and strength. He’s also one of those rare teenaged boys who shows respect to his mother. I enjoyed every moment of our senior session at Cox Arboretum and delighted in editing Parker’s pictures....
When my nephew Jacob was a little boy I wrote him a letter that I’m pretty sure he’ll never get to read. In it I talked about his name and shared with him the story of Jacob in the Bible– the one where he wrestles the angel: “And Jacob was left alone. And a man...
I don’t know if it was the epic waterfalls we sort of stumbled across, or the cozy coffee shop warming us up on the cold, cloudy day, but Ethan’s senior session was incredibly peaceful. I think mostly it was Ethan himself- he has what I like to call “chill vibes…” One word to describe me...
Octavia, a senior at CHS, is MJ’s daughter which makes her inherently cool and interesting. MJ is a deep sea diver doctor, blue fedora wearing, folding fan waving, peace-giving kind of mama. See: Thanks MJ, for trusting me to photograph your absolutely stunning daughter and for fanning me while I worked in the thick August heat...
Nate was such a fun senior guy to photograph, not only because he had a sort of easygoing quality about him that made my job feel effortless, but also because he had the uncanny ability to look like a completely different person depending on the light and the angle. See for yourself… My name is...
Documentary and storytelling high school senior pictures taken in downtown Dayton, Ohio.
Tonight, my nephew Dylan will suit up for the Ross Rams football team one last time. He’s a senior and this is his last game. I’m sure he’ll give it all he’s got and more because he’s a Caldwell and that’s just what Caldwells’ do. Good luck tonight Dylan- we couldn’t be more proud. Go Rams! One word...
When I met Julie I was shocked by my own vanity. I was giddy throughout her senior session at Spring Grove because, well, as you can see, she’s gorgeous! But not only is she a beauty, she’s a survivor. She’s found a way to transform her greatest handicap into her most valuable strength: gratitude. I know the doctors say...
My nephew is graduating high school. Surely I must be getting old. It’s totally worth if it means I get to watch these soft, sweet faces transform into strong, stubbly men. Dustin I’m proud of you, not only because you are a responsible guy, but because you have an incredible soul. You have “good energy.” It’s with great pride...
Ian is Jeff and Reggie’s son. He’s an only child in a family full of pastors and pugs. Ian is graduating high school soon and will be going away to college in the fall. Jeff and Reggie, like most parents, want to slow time, even for just a moment. They gave me the honor and their trust to document...
Zack is a senior graduating from high school this spring. For his session we chose to mix it up with some swimming pics at the Kettering Rec Center, suit and tie pics at the stately Dayton Masonic Center and some casual mom pics in front of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Zack is on the swim team....
Maegan Marie reminds me why I love taking pictures of people. When we got started taking her senior pictures at funky Garden Station, Maegan was shy and quiet. So naturally I was nervous and loud. I talked without thinking, and probably put my foot in my mouth more than once. But somewhere in midst of my awkwardness, Maegan began...
